The Poké RPG is a Pokemon tabletop role-playing game based in the world of Pokémon. It has a fully illustrated, 200-page core rulebook, as well as a Pokédex containing the first five generations of Pokemon. It is a free, fan-made project, not to be sold or used for profit in anyway.

Playing the Poké RPG requires two “books,” available for free in PDF format.

The first, titled The Poké RPG, is the core rule book for the Pokémon roleplaying game. Here you will find the mechanics behind character creation, world building, skills, battle, and more. For those more familiar with tabletop RPGs in general, the system follows a d20 ruleset with a completely customizable advancement system via traits, skills, and level progression.

The second is titled The Pokédex, and includes the stat blocks for each Pokémon, including their combat abilities, moves, and evolutions.

Also included here is a character sheet, a heavily modified version of one made by Staffen.

Pokémon is owned by the Pokemon Company and Nintendo, and this is intended as a fair use, fan-made homage to the wonderful world of Pokemon.

Original Fanart

Pokémon has always been one of my favorite franchises. When i was young I played Pokémon Red for the gameboy and instantly felt immersed in that world. I loved discovering new Pokémon, exploring, and battling to “be the best.” My brothers and I have also been long-time tabletop RPG players, and enjoy the breadth of freedom and storytelling that can arise from such games. We would play “pokemon RPGs” or “the pokemon role-playing game” on camping trips or down by the local river. At the time we noticed a distinct lack options where these two hobbies would intersect and we set out to create a set of rules to allow us and others to enjoy the world of Pokémon in the form of a role-playing tabletop. Over the years, our efforts have continued as the ruleset has grown in size and complexity, to the point where it now stands as a complete, fully illustrated Pokémon RPG ruleset and 280 page book. The results are available above, and I hope you appreciate the wonderful world of Pokemon in a whole new way.

I would like to thank all the other artists who have contributed their their work or images for use in The Poké RPG.  A comprehensive list of artists who are included is found on the front page of the core rule book.
